The GovHack NSW State Awards night was held at the wonderful UTS Startups Event Space on Friday, October 18, 2019.

Audrey Lobo-Pulo, Director & Founder of Phoensight and founding board member of Open Data Australia, talked about the power of open data.

The Department of Customer Service sponsored “Improving cost of living outcomes by using rules as code” challenge was won by entry “eDUCATE NSW” from Team “SwitchCase”.

The Department of Customer Service sponsored “Improving the customer experience of government services” challenge was won by “TrainMate™️” from team “The Codefather”. Honourable mentions to teams “inclusivIT”, “SwitchCase” and “JOCAR”.

The Department of Planning Industry & Environment sponsored “What’s the coolest way to travel across the city?” Challenge was won by entry “CoolWalk Sydney” from “Team 520”. Honourable mentions to teams “Walk the Talk”, “MicroLant” and “Vegemite”.

The Department of Planning Industry & Environment sponsored “Three C’s of innovation – combination, collaboration, and chance” challenge was won by entry “GreenRoutes” from team “Mentally Friendly”. Honourable mentions to teams “Vegemite”, “Digital Transformers”, and “BeFrank”.

The Liverpool City Council sponsored “Pedestrian and Air Quality Sensor Data” challenge was won by entry “Helping Small Business with BizValidator” entry from team JOCAR. Honourable mentions to teams “Tessellate” and “Digital Thinks”.

The University of Technology Sydney sponsored “Ultimo: what are the building blocks of an innovative precinct?” Challenge was won by “Incub8 Australia” from team “SwitchCase”.

The Transport for NSW sponsored “What are the key levers that can be affected to ease congestion in NSW” challenge was won by entry “Redirect” from team “Piped Piper”.

The Spirit of GovHack NSW award went to Dean Nguyen.
